You won’t want to miss the famous “blowing rocks” when you visit the nature preserve. The blowing rocks occur when the sea breaks against the coastal rocks and forces plumes of saltwater up to 50 feet into the air. Talk about a spectacle!

In general, it’s best to visit Blowing Rocks Nature Preserve during the summer for calm, clear waters that are ideal for swimming.

If you’re all about the blowing rocks, visiting during the winter on days when the water is rough and the tide is high is your best bet. You can check the local tide schedule to see when that might be.

Jupiter Insider Tip: An overlooked secret to Blowing Rocks Preserve is its trails, some of which lead to private beaches on the West Intracoastal side of the island. Here, the waters are calm and clear, perfect for kids and families on days when the oceanfront is a little too strong to enjoy.
